2012 Volunteer Details
The OFOA Society 2012 BREW CREW volunteer registration is now open. The Okanagan Fest-of-Ale Society BREW CREW Volunteer Forms are now available at the Sandman - Penticton, or as a downloaded .pdf.
OFOA Brew Crew volunteers are requested to attend the mandatory Volunteer Orientation at 6:00 pm Tuesday April 5th at the Day's Inn - Penticton.

All volunteers must be 19 years old or older to be a Brew Crew member, 2 pieces of ID (one with a photo) may be requested.

What type of volunteer roles does the event need?
Admission Ticket Distributors ~ Distribute pre-purchased tickets at the door (sitting role/dress warm)
Front Entrance Greeters ~ collect ticket and provide souvenir glass (requires standing/dress warm)
Brewer Assistants ~ take one token per beer sample served (requires standing/ NO pouring allowed)
Floor Operations ~ keg, ice, water, sample pail delivery and removal (requires lifting)
Brew Crew Services ~ assist with Volunteer T-shirt/glass distribution, Volunteer Party (srat Fri 2:30pm; Sat 11am)
Pre-Event Set-up ~ assist with the operations crew prior to the event (Friday 11am – 4pm) (requires lifting)
Post Event Take down ~ assist with the operations crew at end of event (Sat 6pm – 9pm) (requires lifting)

What are the various shifts available?
Brew Crew members are welcome to work more than one shift, and are asked to show up 15 minutes before their shift.
~ Shift #1 ~ Friday 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm
~ Shift #2 ~ Saturday 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
~ Shift #3 ~ Saturday 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm

What is asked of me as a Brew Crew volunteer?
Brew Crew volunteers are consider Ambassadors, not just of the Okanagan Fest-of-Ale event, but for the community as a whole. Some of the Okanagan Fest-of-Ale Society Brew Crew Guidelines include:
Volunteers are asked to…
~ attend a mandatory Brew Crew Volunteer Orientation (date and time will be noted on the volunteer form)
~ wear their t-shirts and wristbands at all times during their scheduled shift
~ be neatly attired (no ripped jeans or altering your t-shirt please)
~ arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of their shift
~ sign-in and come and go through the volunteer entrance only
~ report to their Team Coordinator at the start of their shift
~ be polite and friendly to everyone
Volunteers CANNOT…
~ pour product
~ sell, trade or alter their volunteer t-shirt during the event
~ wear their volunteer t-shirt when not volunteering during event
~ consume alcoholic beverages prior/during their scheduled shift
~ smoke during their scheduled shift – except when on break and in the designated area
~ allow friends or family to be given free access or entry at anytime

What are some of the benefits of being a Brew Crew volunteer?
Events such as this would not be possible without the support and the enthusiasm from volunteers such as yourself and the non-profit Okanagan Fest-of-Ale Society recognizes the commitment our Brew Crew volunteers are making to this event. (Benefits subject to change.) Each Brew Crew volunteer may receive:
~ an Annual Okanagan Fest-of-Ale T-shirt
~ an Annual Okanagan Fest-of-Ale Souvenir Sampling Glass
~ access to the event – only when you are wearing your wristband
~ access to the Volunteer Room
~ access to complimentary coffee from Jack Kelly - The Coffee Man
~ water from Miller Springs in the volunteer room
~ a post event Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
~ the Society's and the communities HUGE thanks and appreciation
~ the pride of being associated with a very successful community event

Proceeds from this community event:
The net proceeds from this community event are gifted to various qualifying Registered Charitable Organizations. The OFOA Board of Directors gather for a post-event meeting in July of each year to review the applications received and gift available funds to qualifying and deserving applications. The application process takes place between May 1st and June 15th each year. For more information on Charity Requests.
