AUG 8: $95,000 donated to the local community
As a result of another successful Okanagan Fest-of-Ale event and the great management by the Okanagan Fest-of-Ale Society board of directors, coordinator and volunteers, $95,000 has been dispersed back to the community this year. Since 2003, the OFOA Society has ‘given back’ just over $387,000 in cash. The Directors are thrilled to be able to 'give back' to the community.

BEST BEER ~ Paddock Wood Brewing - Czech Mate Pilsner
A classic Czech style pils with 40 IBU and made with soft water to avoid a bitter bite. 5.2% ABV.
Runner Up for BEST BEER ~ Tie between: Crannóg Ales - Gael’s Blood Organic Potato Ale (Certified Organic, Cask-conditioned) & Crannóg Ales - Red Branch Irish Ale (Certified Organic, cask-conditioned)
Gael’s Blood Organic Potato Ale (Certified Organic, Cask-conditioned) – Another award-winner, this Irish “Immigrant” ale is made with organic potatoes for an exceptionally smooth, silky body. It is extraordinarily rich in earthy malt flavour and body, balanced by plenty of new world hops. Past winner of the Judges Choice at the OFOA! Cask-conditioned and poured on a traditional English beer engine. Made at Canada's first organic and sustainable on-farm brewery. 5% alc/vol. 30 IBU
Red Branch Irish Ale (Certified Organic, cask-conditioned) – Cask-conditioned, served on a traditional English beer engine. A classic Irish ale, ruddy with caramel malts. Mild, clean and gentle, with just enough hops to balance the beer. This is a daily sipper, less carbonated to allow for more enjoyment. A great starting place for the festival and for any meal. Made in Sorrento at Canada's first organic and sustainable on-farm brewery. 4.7% alcohol 25 IBU

BEST BEVERAGE ~ Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse - Rumrunner
Rumrunner is crafted with home-grown heritage apples including Winter Bananas and Winesaps. The apples were hand pressed using our traditional rack and cloth press, slowly fermented with Champagne yeast then aged in rum-soaked bourbon barrels. Notes of brown sugar and spice give complexity to this semi-dry sparkling cider. Pairing suggestions: Pears, walnuts, duck, pork, blue cheeses, aged cheddar, salty cured meats.

2011 Industry Choice Award Winners:
MACRO – Central City Brewing - Red Racer India Pale Ale
A style of ale fashioned to survive the long voyage from England to India during the British Colonization. Hops, hops, and more hops! This ale has an intense aroma and a long lingering finish. A beer for the connoisseur, this is the Brewmasters choice.

MICRO – Tie Between: Cannery Brewing's Naramata Nut Brown & No Justice Pale Ale
Naramata Nut Brown – This velvety soft ale has a stubbornly loyal following, Rich dark malts are layered in a seamless manner. Fine tuning with a blend of bittering, aroma, and flavour hops product an amazingly smooth finish and a lingering taste. This is a full bodied ale with a rich and gentle flavour. Don't be afraid of the dark!
No Justice Pale Ale – Our Brewmaster has handcrafted a great-tasting, crisp, clean, lower alchohol ale. This beer delivers the full flavoured taste and complexity you have come to expect from Cannery Brewing.
